Instruments for determining temperature of grain

Grain (seed) temperature is the most important indicator of normal storage conditions. Its increase, not associated with an increase in ambient temperature, indicates a serious violation of the storage mode and the possibility of rapid deterioration of seeds.

Temperature of freshly harvested grain (the first three months after harvesting) is measured daily if it is wet or damp; moderately dry grain - once every three days; dry grain - at least once every 15 days; wet and damp, stored at a temperature below 10 ° C - twice in a decade

The temperature is measured with a metal heat stick.

Observations are made for each batch.

The surface of the embankment of large batches, conditionally divided into sections of 50 m2 and each of them is monitored. If the grain is embanked in 1.5 m layer, it is possible to measure temperature in one layer, and from 1.5 to 2 m - in at least two layers.

When the height of the embankment is more than 1.5 m, the temperature is measured in three layers: at a depth of 30-50 cm from the surface, in the middle of the embankment and at the floor.
