Apparatus for the determination of the turbidity of bacterial suspension

Tubes

Description

Optical device based on the principle of optical absorption with the output of the measurement result in McFarland units. It is intended for convenient and rapid determination of the turbidity of a bacterial suspension. Standardization of bacterial suspensions is extremely important for identifying microorganisms, determining their sensitivity to antibacterial agents and other tasks. Standardization of optical density for bacterial identification and antibiotic sensitivity testing is one of the main criteria for successful implementation of these tests.

Technical Characteristics

The instrument allows turbidimetric measurements over a wide range of McFarland densities (between 0.0-15) and can be calibrated by the user to at least 3 points with the McFarland standard ( 0.5-5.0)

The instrument is unique in its ability to take six measurements in one step, which eliminates possible slowness in the measuring tubes. The arithmetic average of the measured data is shown on the screen. The device was designed for the standard 16mm tube diameter, but it also accepts 15 to 18.5 mm tubes with a minimal volume of bacterial suspension of 2ml. It is calibrated to the sterile disposable plastic tubes that are offered with the instrument (standard calibration) and to the new NAF glass tubes for suspension media. In addition to this calibration, you can also use your own calibration. The instrument is equipped with a new sampling nozzle for the use of tubes of different lengths.
